Privacy Policy
Last updated: placeholder — not yet reviewed by counsel.
This page is a placeholder. It describes, in plain language, what data MarketWatch Local actually collects and why. It has not been drafted or reviewed by a lawyer or a privacy professional and does not by itself satisfy GDPR, CCPA, or other privacy-law requirements. Do not launch to real paying customers on this text alone.
What we collect about you
- Account info: name, email, hashed password (never stored in plain text).
- Restaurant info: name, address, menu items you enter.
- Usage data: which competitors you monitor, alert rules you configure.
- Billing info: handled entirely by Stripe — we never see or store your card number.
What we collect about competitors
See our Data Sources page for the full breakdown. In short: business identity, rating, review count, price tier, and open/closed status come from the Google Places API — aggregate figures only, never individual review text. Menu and price data is entered by you, describing what you personally observed about a competitor.
How we use it
To run the product: computing your dashboard, sending alerts and weekly reports you've configured, and processing subscription billing. We don't sell your data.
Third parties we use
- Stripe — payment processing.
- Google (Gemini API) — AI-generated market insights (only structured market data is sent, never your account credentials or billing info).
- Google (Places API) — competitor business identity, rating, review count, and status (see Data Sources).
- Resend — transactional email (password resets, alerts, weekly reports).
Your data, your control
You can update or remove your restaurant's menu data from Settings at any time. Account deletion isn't self-service yet — contact support once real support channels exist.
